As a computer technician over the last six years I’ve had experience with virtually every anti-virus product on the market. There seems to be a mass of confusion regarding what products work best in that many consumers feel that a product must be well known to be good. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

I’ve found, over the years, that it’s more often than not a company that you’ve never heard of that can bring the big guys to their knees, in the world of Anti-virus software this has proven to be true yet again.

I first started using Avast! about five years ago after deciding that the more popular and well known anti virus programs simply were not doing the job that was being requested of them. I would receive computers in my shop that had full suites of expensive and well known anti-virus programs that would be absolutely full of viruses and other malware that the well known programs had allowed to get in and stay there. After much frustration and testing I finally found a review of Avast! in a magazine that was spectacular, so I decided to give it a try. The first time I tried it it found hundreds of viruses that had been missed by other programs and I found out that it actually cost only half as much as the competitors. I’ve been using Avast! on every computer that comes through my shop ever since and I’ve had no need to look back.
